When a subatomic particle enters a vessel filled with superheated transparent liquid, it collides with a nucleus in the fluid. That collision releases additional particles, which vaporize the liquid along their paths and leave behind visible bubble tracks. By examining the pattern and behavior of these tracks, the types of particles produced in the collision can be identified.
CANTY has designed and engineered a high-pressure chamber for the superheated liquid, along with the camera and light to acquire images of the tracks. Specialized software is then used on these images to determine the physics of these particle collisions.
